So apropos of nothing, Trump announced that the USA would importing a bunch of tariff-free beef from a mystery country. You know everything is above-board by how much stuff is hidden from the American public. Definitely a guy working on behalf of our best interests and not some shady con-artist yelling "look over there!" and reaching for your drink.

Such a sweetheart deal that you know it's going to a crony. And sure enough, people widely suspect that the country is Argentina, which has a crazy right-winger in office and wouldn't you know it, is having some pretty serious economic problems. So weird that those two things keep coinciding.

While not directly connected to this story, it sort of sets the tone - back in March, China rejected a 22-ton beef shipment from Argentina because they found the antibiotic chloramphenicol in the meat, which is banned for meat production in both Argentina and China. So...how'd it get there? I suppose atlas shrugged, then drugged. (btw, widespread antibiotic use for livestock is a very serious thing due to the potential for creating antibiotic-resistant disease. But it's pretty far-fetched to say that some sort of outbreak would hamper the global economy or one's lifestyle in the 21st century)

And within days of this crazy, non-transparent and frankly, shady af plan being announced, it already triggered a beef recall in Texas and Florida
Corte Argentino USA LLC, located in Aventura, Florida, recalled approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina
FSIS classified the recall as a Class I health hazard, its highest recall classification. The agency defines a Class I recall as a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that consuming the product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

Let's ship it all to the white house lawn. Let it rot.

The stupid shit going down from babies dying from measles again to selling tainted food to renaming oceans and lakes and posting the 10 commandments at schools is happening at such a pace it is overwhelming to keep up. And of course, the attack on every marginalized group as well as on our allied nations. The US dollar and US Government's credit rating have taken hits as well. The economy and inflation are shite. Family farms are being sold off at record rates. Corruption at unheard of levels, using their positions of power to enrich themselves. Gifts galore. Speaking in tongues inside the ugly white/gold house. Placating murderer/dictators. American voters are a smart as a box of rocks.

Main problem when Donnie pulls shit like this is that it's a distraction tactic so the press doesn't report on whatever bullshit he's really doing to us. To make our lives materially worse, less safe, less healthy, more expensive. He and his cronies gain from it and we pay for it.

I'm less amused by this and that woman in the previous tweet who thinks it's funny should get the death penalty. That's the world they're building. They should experience the benefits of it.

Yeah. He almost certainly died over two months ago, otherwise there would be a public appearance. I expected the Republicans to announce his death after the special election cutoff August 4th, but it seems they just want to sweep the whole thing under the rug. Ruth Bader Ginsburg wasn't even cold before they put some right-stripping wingnut up for nomination. Rules for thee...

So I walked past a hardware store without buying anything, so logically, it follows that I just made 50 billion dollars.

Unrelated, I need to crash with someone for a while because my house fell apart (totally Biden's fault, I take no responsibility)

What a terrible day to have eyes: Judge okays AI-generated child porn

What in the absolute...
According to the Department of Justice, 42-year-old Steven Anderegg used a text-to-image generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) model called Stable Diffusion to create thousands of realistic images of young children.
The DOJ said thousands of images were found on Anderegg’s computer.
In his Aug. 25 decision, the judge referred to two U.S. Supreme Court decisions from 1969 and 2002. The first ruled that people have a right to keep obscenity in the privacy of their homes, and the second ruled that child sex abuse material that does not depict real children is not child pornography and is protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

In his decision, however, the judge noted that while he is bound by the precedent set by the Supreme Court, he is concerned about “the lines these cases draw” and how quickly AI is evolving.
While court case #1 is pretty reasonable, what in the abominable snowman's wintery mix is going on with the second one, cause this is the first I'm hearing about this stuff and I'm pretty sure no one had photorealistic stuff in mind with that one.

These people are crazy. Either these laws get extended to AI or they effectively cease to exist.
